Central defender snapped up from League of Ireland side Derry City as a shrewd acquisition in July, 2022.

Toal played over 150 games for Derry, helping the League of Ireland side qualify for European football, and captained the club for part of his five-year spell at the Brandywell Stadium after signing from hometown club Armagh City.

The central defender has also captained Wanderers at times and become an established member of the senior Northern Ireland squad since establishing himself in English football at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

After helping Wanderers to two play-off finishes in League One and signing a contract until June, 2027 injuries limited his impact in 2024/25. But a return to full fitness is likely to see one of the more senior members of the Whites’ squad again play a major role as he looks to add to his 100 starts for the club.
