Bolton Wanderers Appoint Jimmy Dickinson As Head of Recruitment

Bolton Wanderers Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Jimmy Dickinson as the new Head of Recruitment. 

Dickinson, who hails from nearby Bury, joins as a key part of the enhanced football structure being implemented by Sporting Director Fergal Harkin.   

Reporting directly to Harkin, Dickinson will lead the club's talent identification and recruitment strategy. This appointment, which was overseen by Harkin, highlights Bolton Wanderers' commitment to integrating specialist expertise and modern methodologies into its football operations.

Dickinson brings a wealth of relevant experience, having previously served as Head of Recruitment at Plymouth Argyle. His background is strongly rooted in performance analysis, providing him with deep expertise in data-informed player assessment and identification.

Fergal Harkin, Sporting Director, said: "Bringing Jimmy on board as Head of Recruitment is a vital step in building the high-calibre football structure we envision for Bolton Wanderers. His proven experience in leading an EFL recruitment department, combined with his analytical skills and valuable local connection, makes him an ideal fit for this crucial role within our strategic plan. I am delighted to have him join my team."   

Jimmy Dickinson added: "When a club the size of Bolton Wanderers, and a Sporting Director with Fergal's standing, shows such strong interest, it is very difficult to decline. I am aware of the size and history of this big football club and the large fanbase eager for its return to former heights. 

“The Club has a clear plan, which aligns with my own ambitions.

“I am also very much looking forward to working alongside Steven Schumacher again; someone I respect and admire.

“The aim for the coming season is very clear. My job is to ensure the recruitment department functions efficiently, providing the best possible support to the coaching staff.”

Dickinson will officially commence his duties on Wednesday 11 June.
